About Miss Monique's Parkside Preschool

A Lively Learning Experience

Children today are so much more advanced than most kids were even just 10 years ago, and therefore more is expected of them when they enter elementary school. Your child will not need to know how to read upon entering kindergarten, however our curriculum does include an emphasis on pre-reading skills for all students while strengthening early readers through various activities. Additionally, your child will practice many social skills in preschool which will help them to be more prepared for the Kindergarten environment including following a routine and instructions, learning classroom rules, and practicing taking turns.

All of my lesson plans are based on "Utah's Early Childhood Core Standards". Included in my curriculum are the following:

  1. Shapes

  2. Numbers 1-20 (30 for 3-Day Class)

  3. Colors (encourage your child to wear the color we are studying as per calendar.)

  4. Coloring, gluing, cutting, and pre-handwriting skills.

  5. Right hand

  6. Name recognition and writing

  7. Letter recognition and ABC order

  8. 40 (Pre-Primer) Dolch Sight Words (3-Day Class)

A unique part of our classroom experience, which the kids absolutely love, is the opportunity we have to cook almost weekly! I love to see the children using their own hands in the kitchen, the dirt, or in the art activity because they learn so much more by simply doing.  Other fun parts of our preschool experience include monthly fieldtrips, and singing time and play time on a daily basis.  Our favorite part of the day is story time!

I have been teaching since 2005 and have been able to adapt a classroom that is great for creative thinking, problem solving, learning personal responsibility, and time management.

I enjoy teaching these young minds so much and would really like to be able to meet you and your child. Please feel free to call or email anytime for more information.
